Surprises!

This was a weekend of surprises, both totally unexpected!

I entered my Day Break quilt in the Naples Quilters Guild show this weekend ~

and it came home with a ribbon ~ Yay!!

But an even bigger surprise was this:

Our daughter is expecting twins!!  She and her hubby are over-the-moon excited, as are we.  ðŸ’“💓
It's going to be a great year!

WIP Wednesday ~ Finishing and starting

I love it when I'm almost done with one thing and starting another (especially when they're both on my Finish-A-Long list).

I'm finishing up the binding on the Interlocking Chains quilt today - I'll share more details and pics later, hopefully this week!  I would have had it done sooner, but I ended up ripping out 12 lines of quilting and taking the back apart because I hated the solid black fabric I originally chose to surround the center panel.

Love the front ~ no changes there!

Can you tell this is for a Detroit Red Wings fan?

Next ~ I'm starting on a  Facets quilt from the book Machine Quilting With Style by Christa Watson.  This is turning out to be a challenge for me, mainly because I have to make my own fabric out of bits and pieces of a bunch of other fabrics.

This is what I started with:

and here are a few pieces of the new fabric:

I have a lot more "fabric" to make, but I just had to try making two halves of a block to see how they might look.  I like it!  (Whew!)

Finished! Twirling Flowers Baby Quilt

Just wanted to share the finished quilt I made for the Small Quilt Auction at this year's Quilt Show.  My last post tells you all about it, so this is basically a picture post.

I love the pink flannel backing!  Besides being soft and cuddly, it really shows off this simple quilting.

For anyone in the Naples, FL area, the Naples Quilters Guild show "Stitches in Time" starts next Friday, February 24th, and the auction is Saturday, February 25th.  Here's a link for more info:  http://www.naplesquiltersguild.com/Show.html.  Hope to see you there!

Last minute project - Twirling Flowers

I really wish I would have thought ahead and added this to my 1st quarter FAL list.  But I decided at the last minute to put together a baby quilt for the small quilt auction at our Guild's show (which happens to be at the end of this month).

I'm using some goodies that I received in the September Sew Sampler Box from Fat Quarter Shop.  The fabric is from the Sweet Orchard Rolie Polie by Down Grapevine Lane for Riley Blake Designs. The pattern is an exclusive pattern from Fat Quarter Shop called Twirling Flowers.

I love making pinwheels, so this little quilt was fun to put together!  I ended up with 21 blocks ~ 20 for the front and one for the back.

Sashing and borders have been added, the back is finished (with an adorable pink polka dot flannel) and I've just started on the quilting.

I forgot how much I love making baby quilts ~ I love seeing a project go together so quickly!
